Ramapo’s Dunkin’ Donut Seasonal Sales

MAHWAH-Students of Ramapo College buzzed with excitement during the long awaited grand opening of Dunkin’ Donuts in the Adler Center on November 28, 2018.

The Dunkin’ features an open display of iconic baked goods, such as donuts, muffins, and cinnamon rolls. Large colorful menus feature a variety of drinks, from iced tea, iced coffee and cold brew to hot coffee and hot chocolate, as well as hot breakfast sandwiches and bagels. Prices range as low as $2-$5 for sandwiches and drink sizes. Tables and benches, complete with outlets, are placed around the cafe to create the perfect study environment.

On the other side of campus, tucked on the bottom floor of the Berrie Center, is the Curtain Call Cafe, complete with a Starbucks. The Berrie Center houses theater, music, and visual arts classes, as compared to the Adler Center, which houses mainly nursing and science classes.

“I like getting coffee from both the Dunkin’ and the Starbucks,” said Rachel Lube, Junior at Ramapo College. “However,” she continued, “the Dunkin’ can get very busy. The Starbucks gets way less busy.

“Not a lot of people seem to know about the Starbucks on campus. I think it is better in a way, simply for the fact that the service is quicker because there are less lines,” added Lube.

Specials

Dunkin’ Donuts runs happy hour which includes $2 medium lattes and cappuccinos from 2-6 p.m. as well as 2-for-$2 breakfast sandwiches.

Best Sellers

“The lattes and the iced-coffees are real big sellers here,” said Villopoto. “There’s always seasonal drinks,” she added. “Like right now, we have the Girl Scout flavors. Come March, we’re going to have the Irish mint flavors. Christmas time we usually have some kind of peppermint.”

Around holidays, such as Valentines Day and St. Patrick’s Day, baked goods are designed according to theme. Pink heart shaped donuts with sprinkles and donuts laced in green icing with gold accents are sold just as fast as they appear.

“We try to do each season,” said Villopoto, who manages three full time workers and a part-time student worker.

Specialty Drinks

Dunkin’ Donuts prides itself on its specialty drinks. The popular iced caramel mocchiato is served over ice with any choice of milk complete with two shots of espresso to perk up the day and a flavored swirl of choice. Iced lattes are a swirl of milk blended together with cold brewed coffee mixed with espresso and any choice of flavoring, such as french vanilla or caramel. Cold brew, which is a college student go-to, is a taste of  flavorful coffee beans, which were seeped in cold water for 12 hours to extract its immense amount of flavor.

Word from the manager

Prior to arriving at Ramapo, Michelle Villipoto managed a Dunkin’ Donut store for 13 years. Her experience was a perfect match for the lively students at Ramapo College. Villipoto’s clear love and compassion for her job creates a welcoming atmosphere for students.

“[There’s] less of a variety of donuts [here], but the kids and the customers are all the same- I love it!” said Villipoto as she compared working at a street front store vs at Ramapo’s cafe.

“Dunkin is great. It’s a great company to work for. It’s survived me,” added Villipoto.

“Yeah, I was a single mother so for 13 years Dunkin’ was my life and uh yeah, Ramapo runs on Dunkin’ so does America.”

Hours of operation

Dunkin’ Donuts is open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday.

  1. The story is very light and the writing is very casual and cheerful. It felt as though the language flowed very well and the subheads made it even more so. She provided lists of everything available, pictures and even quotes. It was kept very local and very organized, it makes me excited for the Dunkin’ even though I’ve been there various times.
