Covid Is Not A Concern for Traveling College Students

By Sam Kim and Tori Waschek

With omicron cases lowering, and as states loosen Covid restrictions, college students are making up for lost time by traveling over spring break.

In March of 2021, 57% of Americans planned to travel for spring break in a study done by Cars.com.

The Big Picture:

  • College students are looking for a way to escape the daily patterns of school and work, even if that means taking a risk during a pandemic to travel and get away. Monica Cruz shared her reasoning of planning a trip with friends to Florida for her spring break.
  • College students feel that going away during spring break is a part of the  “college experience” . Many students have experienced their spring breaks being cancelled the previous two years, and that they still have a limited social life due to campus restrictions. Spring break provides students an opportunity to escape.

Before You Go:

The CDC recommends that at least two weeks before traveling you are fully up to date with your Covid-19 vaccines (including the booster).
