Female Fans Weigh in on Struggling New York Jets

By AUSTIN UNGLAUB

As fans around New Jersey are stepping up and talking about their favorite NFL teams, female fans are speaking out about the New York Jets.

It is clear that the Jets have not have much success since their Super Bowl Championship in 1969. In fact, they have not even been back to the Super Bowl since their win.

According to profootballreferance.com, it has been 49 seasons since the Jets had last been in the Super Bowl spotlight. In those 49 seasons, they have only appeared in the postseason 14 times and have had just 15 winning seasons. It is obvious that the Jets faithful are not happy with how their team has been performing. And many are women.

Sarah Browning, 19, a sophomore at Ramapo College and lifelong New York Jets fan said, “It is getting to the point where it is just embarrassing to watch them play every year, they never seem to exceed expectations.”

The Jets won just five games this year and missed the playoffs by four games which is a lot granted they only play a 16 game season. However, on the defensive side of the ball the Jets did show some signs of hope for years to come. Players such as Marcus Maye and Jamal Adams had solid rookie seasons and showed that they have a lot of potential.

“In order for the Jets to improve they need to have better quarterback play along with a better offensive line. I feel that the defensive side is pretty much complete,” said Danielle Rodriguez, 23, a graduate student at Rutgers University.

The Jets need to improve the play from the quarterback position and this may be the perfect opportunity to do that. They will pick sixth in the years NFL Draft. Recent mock drafts done by NFL experts have five different quarterbacks going in the first round.

There is without a doubt enough talent at that position this year for someone to turn this franchise around. Jets fans are just hoping they can draft the right one to turn their franchise from mediocre to a legit Super Bowl contender for years to come.

  1. As a Jets fan I feel the pain of only 15 winning seasons in 49 years, but didn’t know it was actually that bad. You could also add something about them going after Kirk Cousins.

  2. This is an interesting perspective on the team’s struggles. I like that you frame the opinions with both an explanation of their past seasons and by looking toward their potential for next season. The links also helped to explain the players and things that readers may not be as familiar with.
