FitBeatz Grows Music, Fitness

By NICOLE SHANLEY

Brian Shanley of Old Tappan, N.J. starts his day commuting into New York City at 7 am where he works for Sprinklr, one of the leading technology companies in the world.  He spends his day developing and marketing this social software platform, meeting with big name companies such as Snapchat.

Sprinklr provides social media, marketing, social advertising, content management, collaboration, advocacy and social media monitoring for large enterprises.  Shanley worked very hard to become a part of this team.  Even after his work day, his day has still just begin.  He commutes back to his home in New Jersey where he then heads to the gym and begins producing.

“You can always do more than you think you can. I don’t want to look back later in life and think “what if”. Do things that push you out of your comfort zone. Don’t be afraid to fail. You either win, or learn a valuable lesson. Relentlessly pursue your dreams. If you’re willing to work hard, anything is possible” says Shanley.

As if working full time in New York City is not hectic enough, Shanley does not draw the line there.  He is also proudly the CEO and co-founder of FitBeatz.

FitBeatz is a DJ/ Producer Duo made up of business owner and best friends Brian Shanley and Nick Vizoukis.

FitBeatz runs a very popular music and fitness blog, www.FitBeatz.com. The company was created on March 10th, 2014, but has been producing music since November 12th, 2012. It is a site where consumers can fulfill music, fitness, and motivational needs.

Shanley has always had a passion for music, and upon discovering his love for fitness as an adolescent, the idea to combine the two clicked.  The majority of the company’s income comes from live shows and selling music.

Their slogan, ‘Music that Motivates,’ uniquely combines the producers’ passions and two massive industries, EDM and Fitness. To understand this duel entity aspect of the brand, FitBeatz  has created social pages and blog posts for fans to interact and listen to music.

With an Instagram following over 60,000 and nearly 21,000 Facebook likes, Fitbeatz uses social media to promote their business and without a doubt has a strong support system behind them.

Some features of the site include the latest and most high-energy EDM tracks and mixes, interviews with top DJs, Producers, and Fitness models, Fitness/ Nutrition articles, and a weekly podcast called ‘The Weekend Workout.’

‘The Weekend Workout’ is a weekly radio show that is perfect for fitness classes. It is used by instructors all over the world. The podcast is an hour long, super high-energy mix to keep people motivated during their workouts, and it is released every Friday.

Between the two partners, Shanley and Vizoukis they have DJ’d at Pink Elephant, Cellar Bar, Gold Bar, and Hudson Terrace, all of which are in New York City.

FitBeatz released its latest original track Rosé on EDM.com’s label and played at Ultra Music Festival by world renowned DJs/ Producers in front of 100,000+ attendees.

“I literally could not make it through my workout without FitBeatz, just like their slogan says, their music really does motivate.” says Sarah Powers, 2014 graduate of Montclair State University.

The FitBeatz duo plans to continue producing and growing the company, while also pursuing their own personal careers.

About the owner

Brian Shanley, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of FitBeatz, was born in Westwood, New Jersey. He grew up in Old Tappan, New Jersey and started his collegiate career at University of Maryland. He continued his studies at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and later his finished his studies at Ramapo College of New Jersey and received a Bachelors Degree in Finance, jointly while attending producing school in New York City.

Shanley started listening to music as a child and became obsessed with EDM (Electronic Dance Music) in fifth grade — approximately a decade before it became popular in the United States. His passion for EDM continued to grow as he got older, and it became essential to another part of his life – working out. During his high school years he became very focused on fitness, and used high energy EDM to help get him through his workouts.

Upon the popularity explosion of electronic dance music in the states, Shanley attended Dubspot in the summer of 2013. Located in Manhattan, Dubspot is the #1 School for electronic dance music production in the world. Shanley completed the Ableton Production program in 3 months of schooling and began producing on his own.

With his newly honed talent for producing music, and love of EDM and Fitness – Shanley recognized a unique market opportunity to combine his passions and two rapidly growing billion dollar industries. He officially founded FitBeatz with his best friend and partner Nick Vizoukis in March of 2013.

I am also proud to call him my brother. Growing up, I always knew Brian had a love for music like no other. Although fitness was not quite as important during his childhood years, it quickly became his top priority as an adolescent and jointly made the two fuse together as one.

It has truly been an amazing experience watching Fitbeatz formulate. My basement is basically a producing studio, and if anyone has witnessed his hard work it’s me, his little sister. After all of the nights I would fall asleep to the loud thump of his new track being produced and the pictures bouncing on my walls, I knew he had a love for the two like no other, and was bound to make something great of it.

I am also happy that this brand has the ability to change lives. Not only in a music sense, but in a health and lifestyle sense as well. It is so scary to think that in today’s day and age, more than one-third (35.7 percent) of adults are considered to be obese. More than 1 in 20 (6.3 percent) have extreme obesity. Almost 3 in 4 men (74 percent) are considered to be overweight or obese. The prevalence of obesity is similar for both men and women (about 36 percent). Not everyone has the right motivation to get his or herself to the gym, but I can say first hand Fitbeatz’s slogan “Music that Motivates” couldn’t fit the brand better. If anything can get people inspired and to the gym, it’s their music, and it can change your life.
