Predictions from Ramapo Students about the Second Half of NBA Season

By JOHN GOLDFARB

With the first half of the NBA season finished, it is time to move on to the second half prediction and see which team will be on top.

The first half was good as well as the NBA’s All Star Weekend with memorable moments from the Skills Competition and leaving people breathless after they witnessed Zack LaVine’s dunks.

As the second half began, there were a lot of exciting and unexpected moves made when Kevin Garnett returned to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the original team that drafted him in 1995, as well as Kendrick Perkins leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder to join forces with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Ramapo Students like Markese Tucker expressed how he feels about the second half of the NBA season in the link below.

Ramapo student, George Sapp shared his thoughts on the second half of the NBA season as well as the teams who are starting to get their momentum back.

“I feel like the Golden State Warriors have a great chance of winning the championship, if they keep playing the same way they do,” he said. “I just feel like their luck is going to run out from the three point line, they live and die from it, and I feel like they’re not going to be able to do it in the playoffs.  I feel like OKC is coming up, Cavaliers are coming up so it’s going to be interesting.”

The sad news from the second half of the NBA season that was reported was Derrick Rose is to have meniscus surgery on his right knee and will possibly miss the rest of the season.

Opinions about NBA All Star Weekend

Criminology major Jordan Williams shares his thoughts on Derrick Rose as well as his opinion on the recent NBA All Star Weekend.

“Well in my opinion, Derrick Rose doesn’t really make a big difference, so the second half is still good to me.” Williams said. “It’s entertaining.  The All Star game was good, the Dunk Contest was good, the Three Point Shootout contest was good, the Skills Drill Competition was good, and everything worked out perfect.  I wish Derrick Rose would come back healthy so I can see how he really plays.”

Other Ramapo Students such as Anthony Schifano looks forward to the rest of the NBA season as well as talk about who he thinks will win the NBA Finals this June.

“I’m really looking forward to the second half of the NBA season,” he said. “The Knicks are terrible, it’s sad to see such a storied franchise go down the tubes.  I want to see the Warriors win because I like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.  I think they’re the best duo in basketball.”

As for the NBA Finals, they are a long ways away from now, but with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors on the rise, basketball fans will witness a very exciting NBA Playoffs this spring.

Ramapo Student Greg Hyppolite believes the Cleveland Cavaliers will advance to the NBA Finals this season and states why they will.

“They got LeBron, they got Kyrie, they got JR Smith, they have everybody,” he said. “They have the ultimate team.”
