By JOHN McKENNA, ESTHER GONZALES, and TYLER BARTH

MAHWAH – With commencement only three weeks away. Ramapo College seniors are counting down the days until they walk through the arch for the final time. With hopes of successful careers in their hears but doubts on their minds, two students epitomize what it means to be a college senior in the final weeks of their time in college.

Of the resources available to Ramapo College students, the Cahill Center offers opportunities for prospective graduates to get their foot in the door of their career field. the Cahill Center has set up jobs and internships for students at some of America’s largest media corporations, with NBC, ABC, and Google being just three of the dozens of companies Ramapo graduates have began their careers.

“All of our job postings are on Handshake. It’s open to alumni, graduating seniors, and pretty much everyone,” said Sam Woods, who works at the Cahill Center.

The Ramapo College Arching Ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 4:15 p.m. Arching is open to both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as guests and family members. Two of the graduating seniors who will be walking down the arch with nervous anticipation are Megan Baldwin and Delanie Munro.

Baldwin, a literature major with a minor in international studies, is set to continue her search for a job in the publishing industry. “I am still looking for a job looking in the publishing industry. I’m a weird mixture of nervous and excited at the same time…In the future I want to go back to school for masters or pH d in literature or creative writing to teach at college level.”

For every nervous student like Megan, there stands a student brimming with excitement like Munro. As a Communications major with a concentration in journalism, Munro has already spent time in the industry via an internship. With prior work experience, she’s eager to press forward into her career. “Super excited to graduate waiting for this forever it seems like… My internship is at a publishing house I’ve really enjoyed and I’m also editing a children’s book this summer… It’s all up in the air right now,” says Munro.

As their time in college draws to a close, seniors will be enjoying their final days before officially stepping out into the “real world”.
