Life in the Age of COVID: Working Remotely

BY ANA LISANIN

As the COVID-19 Pandemic impacts the way we learn, work, and function, our lives have shifted into a remote setting which is becoming our “new norm.” When the pandemic first struck, all schools were forced to immediately be put in a remote setting. Students have adjusted to learning through the screens of their laptops, which has led universities to give students the option to continue working remote or come back to school grounds. Working remotely has not only been effective through schools, but as well as other aspects of our daily lives such as the working environment. Big companies have given their employees the option whether to come back to the offices or not. Many have favored that working from home has led to time and cost savings when it comes to commuting for work which has benefited both the employee and employer because of travel expenses. The absence of time wasted in commuting is an obvious benefit, but employees were more focused at home. Work/Life balance has also become easier in households because of the flexibility to work from home. As we continue to live through the COVID-19 Pandemic, working remote has shown benefits to students as well as working individuals in the long run.
